Understanding Regression Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy vs Stage Hypnosis

Hypnosis is often a misunderstood practice when it comes to Hypnotherapy.

The word "hypnosis" makes some people think of stage performers who make amusing suggestions to their willing volunteers for the sake of entertainment.

Hypnosis used in Hypnotherapy is a much different practice with an entirely different intention, technique, and result.

Hypnosis is induced by bringing the client into a state of deep relaxation.

We ask the conscious-waking mind to take a back seat while allowing the subconscious mind to come to the forefront.

This is the stage between being asleep and being awake, where clients are more receptive to suggestions and direction that benefit them.

In this state, we use Hypnosis to recover suppressed memories and to allow modification of behavior and belief systems.

Different Types of Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a vast field, with a wide variety of sub-branches such as Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH), Ericksonian Hypnosis, and of course Regression Hypnotherapy.

Regression Hypnotherapy in particular stood out to me and here are some reasons why.

Why Regression Hypnotherapy stood out to me:

    • Creates an opportunity to revisit past events, childhood memories, or experiences that were blocked out, with the intention of resolving or healing from them more deeply

    • A tool for uncovering soul contracts and past life agreements, and possibly renegotiating them or releasing the tie

    • An open-minded approach to past lives and the concept of reincarnation and alternate timelines

    • The repeated pattern of clients regressing to life on other planets, discovering starseed associations, or channeling higher guides and ascended masters (see QHHT and Dolores Cannon)

What is Regression Hypnotherapy?

Regression hypnotherapy is a technique that uses hypnosis to help people improve their emotional and cognitive health by resolving past events.

This type of therapy is considered delicate and extensive as some memories are painful to revisit but are necessary for soul growth.

"Regression hypnotherapy involves a hypnotherapist taking you back to your past with the goal of uncovering the reason for an issue or problem in the present. It involves being guided through your memories and analyzing past events to understand your current state better."                 -Greg Thompson

How Regression Hypnotherapy Works

If a client is feeling stuck, lost, or blocked in an area of their life, we trace the issue to the root cause of the emotion.

It often lies in a past event that shaped how the client views themself or the world around them.

This view can ultimately create an unconscious belief system that does not serve them or their goals (such as "I am unworthy of honesty/love/money" etc).

Prior to the session, clients do not need to know what the past memory is, or if it is a present or past life issue.

That information is uncovered within the hypnosis session as we follow the subconscious mind to its emotional priority.

This becomes increasingly easy to do as the state of relaxation allows the subconscious mind to feel at ease to share information readily and authentically.

When we try to process these emotions and memories in our normal waking state, the judgment of our conscious mind tends to get in the way.

The conscious mind, the one that governs our thoughts, has a tendency to cloud our perception of events and cling to unhelpful narratives.

This can lead to people harboring resentment, guilt, or sadness as they have not forgiven or let go of what has happened in the past.

Regression Hypnotherapy allows the truth of the matter and spirit to shine through all the confusion and hurt.

Healing That Comes From Hypnotherapy

Even if we think we have moved on from the past, we might've made unconscious promises to ourselves that still affect how we act today.

For example, someone who was cheated on in the past during a significant relationship might carry a belief that romantic partners cannot be trusted.

With this unconscious belief at play, this person might find themselves unable to find a relationship that feels safe despite actively searching for it.

By diving deep into the subconscious, we work to clear these past energies and close that chapter once and for all.

Methods Used, and Clarifying Energetic Cord Cutting

Sessions may involve cord cutting, emotionally releasing people/situations, negative entity removal, and aura cleansing.

It is important to note that cutting cords with people that are in your present life does not mean you are severing your love and compassion for the individual.

Rather, we are cutting cords with the heavy attachment that we hold to them as it is binding and limiting to one's soul growth.

It is necessary to let go in order to wipe the slate clean. Some soul contracts are revealed to no longer be useful to the client and need to be released to better suit the present life circumstances.

This means that it might still be possible to withhold a relationship with these individuals if desired.

We are cutting the cords with the expectations made in the past, which may allow the relationship to flourish in new and surprising ways.

Spiritual Happenings in Hypnotherapy

It is not uncommon for clients to experience spiritual phenomena in their hypnosis sessions.

When the subconscious mind is truly allowed to express itself uninhibited, it can travel beyond time and space akin to astral projecting.

Some clients report experiences of being on another planet, an alternate timeline of events, or in the higher realm where they make contact with Spirit Guides.

Most clients meet with their Higher Self in order to work directly with their own inner power.

Ancestors or passed on loved ones can appear as a source of guidance and support with messages from the other side.

These encounters can be greatly healing within themselves, allowing an opportunity for closure or self-realization.
